Disco Dance

Growing in Popularity in South Africa, Disco Dance and Disco Dance Freestyle fall under the Street Dance department of the IDO (International Dance Organisation). The dance is free and encompasses a range of borrowed steps from other genres of dance.

Student Dress Code

While we are not entirely strict when it comes to appearances in training, there are a few guidelines that should be followed when choosing what to wear when attending classes and private lessons.

Medal Test Syllabus

Disco Dance is free and encompasses a range of borrowed steps from other genres of dance, all kinds of movements are permitted, but Disco Dance steps and movements dominate. Disco bares some similarities to Freestyle and employs the use of centre body rhythm throughout, accented lines and strong technical movements at high speeds which are characteristic of this dance style. No acrobatic Elements allowed!

Disco Dance Freestyle, much like Disco Dance, is free and encompasses a range of borrowed steps from other genres of dance, all kinds of movements are permitted, but Disco Dance steps and movements dominate. Disco bares some similarities to Freestyle and employs the use of centre body rhythm throughout, accented lines and strong technical movements at high speeds which are characteristic of this dance style. The main difference between the above mentioned styles is that Disco Dance Freestyle encompasses elements as would be found in gymnastics/acrobatic. Dancers are seen transitioning in and out of these gymnastics/acrobatic elements as smoothly as seamlessly as possible incorporating Disco Dance elements throughout.
